Self Publishing Steps-Electronic Book Publishers

The Benefits Of Electronic Book
Publishers

Electronic book publishers are companies that
publish books electronically.  In the digital millennium,
electronic books are going to become more and more
prevalent.  There are a number of factors which make
electronic books much much convenient and also much more
advantageous when compared to regular books.

Electronic books publishers take a number of
risks and benefits when publishing and marketing books
electronically.  They benefit from the fact that there is
no delivery cost.  The cost for producing the book is
minimal compared to the costs that a regular publisher would
take in production.  There are no materials such as paper
or ink that need to be purchased.  There is no labor cost
for moving the books.  There is no trucking fee for
delivery of the books to stores.  Finally there is no
bookstore fee for shelving the books.  All of those fees
are eliminated.

Another benefit of these books is that they
are instantly transferable.  If there needs to be a new
upgrade or a new edition made, the books can be instantly
upgraded, there is no delay on waiting for an upgrade.

Electronic books publishers still have to pay
authors royalties, intellectual property fees, and other
fees.  Often times they can afford to pay their authors
much higher percentages than their offline counterparts.
This is because they have no overhead and they don’t have to
pay for facilities in the same way that their counterparts
do.  However, they should still have to pay for editing,
writing, copywriting, illustrating, and other similar editing
processes.  They do have to pay for the author’s
royalties.  Often times an agent is not involved with
electronic books publishing, so that cost is also eliminated
from the equation.

There are a number of problems which may
arise from electronic books publishing.  Firstly, most of
the sales of books are still offline.  That means that
most people are still not accustomed or comfortable with the
idea of buying books and reading them on their computer.
There will always be a segment of the population that prefers
to have physical books instead of digital books.

Also, copyright infringement is rampant on
the internet.  Almost immediately after a new book is
released, copyright infringement goes on a rampage and there
are often many versions leaked all over the net.
Enforcing and policing these illegal versions is nearly
impossible, and there is certainly going to be lost profits
from these enterprises.
